We report an improved measurement of the valence and quark distributions from the forward-backward asymmetry in the Drell-Yan process using of data collected with the D0 detector in collisions at . This analysis provides the values of new structure parameters that are directly related to the valence up and down quark distributions in the proton. In other experimental results measuring the quark content of the proton, quark contributions are mixed with those from other quark flavors. In this measurement, the and quark contributions are separately extracted by applying a factorization of the QCD and electroweak portions of the forward-backward asymmetry. Aad, G.; Akimov, A.V.; Al Khoury, K.; Aleksa, M.; Andeen, T.; Anelli, C.; Aranzabal, N.; Armijo, C.; Bagulia, A.; Ban, J.; et al (, Journal of Instrumentation)Abstract The Phase-I trigger readout electronics upgrade of the ATLAS Liquid Argon calorimeters enhances thephysics reach of the experiment during the upcoming operation atincreasing Large Hadron Collider luminosities. The new system, installed during the second Large Hadron Collider Long Shutdown, increases the trigger readout granularity by up to a factor of tenas well as its precision and range.Consequently, the background rejection at trigger level is improvedthrough enhanced filtering algorithms utilizing the additional informationfor topological discrimination of electromagnetic and hadronic shower shapes. This paper presents the final designs of the new electronic elements, their custom electronic devices, the proceduresused to validate their proper functioning, and the performance achievedduring the commissioning of this system.more » « less
